choosey?

CALLING ALL SHIH TZU OWNERS!!

Are your dogs choosey when it comes to food? coz boboie is DAMN choosey.. he's too lazy to bite the dog biscuits.. the dry food.. he eats once a day only and we tend to feed him at 8pm ish.. we thought he'd gobble up the food when he's real hungry BUT nope.. he'd just sit there and look at us.. we have to practically beg him to eat.. spoon feed him.. haih..

The thing is if he doesn't eat, he'd vomit.. the yellow-ish liquid.. we took him to the vet before and the vet said shih tzu tend to be quite choosey on their food.. sigh...

So i really need your advice, help and etc.. i don't know what to do.. now my mum have to put some greenies into his food in order to get him eat =.="

ps: we're feeding him some dry food mixed with some salmon and potato from the tin

Am not an expert of dogs. But I did encounter similar situation with my late-dog last time.

Maybe have a little variety in the diet? Could help. But of course must avoid the oily stuff, otherwise could cause problems to his digestions.

Oh yeah I think can find references from the net also. Particularly for the breed.

My dog, a terrier has the exact habit as boboie. She is very choosy and rather vomit than to eat the food that she doesn't like.

Friends used to tell me just leave the food in their bowl, when they're hungry, they will eat one. But unfortunately, that won't happen. It pains my heart whenever i see her vomit the yellowish liquid. Sometimes, i wish she could tell me what she wants to eat...

I've consulted the vet before and he recommended an imported dog food - BillJac, for her to try. The vet claimed that the most choosiest dog will eat them. He was kinda right. My dog actually likes it. I can't give her that everyday as she tends to get bored with the same food. So now it's a routine of fish, chicken, dog food, etc.

is billjac from tin like cesear or dry dog food? boboie is very lazy when it comes to chewing =.="

plus we have to take care of his diet.. he's 6.7kg now.. we don't want him to gain any more weight.. he's not fat, really.. see the pics when he was wet.. i think he's just BIG boned

i mispelled, it should be Bil-Jac. If he's lazy to chew, perhaps you can mix it with some water.

Hey Nicole, try free feeding. That's what I do for my dog. At least, that way you know for sure he'll eat whenever he's hungry.

Hi Nicole, my Noah (a Shih Tzu) is also a choosy eater. He only eats whenever I mixed his dry food with some wet canned food. He likes the ones named Wina. He vomited yellowish liquid too when he doesn't eat on time. The vet I went too said that it's gastritis. I guess they are just gassy... Noah farts a lot! LOL!
