Before all of you read what i've to say, let me introduce the ever 'famous' (famous in the sense that it's been trashed by the ever famous Jeremy Clarkson) Kelisa by Perodua :-
I didn't know that it comes with Bluetooth technology now
According to an article i've read on The Star dated 5th May 2007 which is today, the Deputy Minister in the PM's Department stated that our 2nd national car, the Perodua Kelisa is NOT the worst car in the world as claimed by the critic Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear.. he also added that it's just a personal view.. instead the Kelisa scored the highest points in quality in the JD Power Asia Pacific customer satisfaction survey..
As quoted by the Deputy Minister, from 2001 to 2007, Perodua exported more than 2,400 units.. let ME say it again.. it's 2,400 (TWO THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED) units of Kelisa to the United Kingdom and the sole distributor had never received any negative response.. he also added that Clarkson is just like a football commentator who does not play football but he knows the game..
So, what he was trying to say is that Kelisa is not the worst car and hey, in 6 years we sold 2,400 units already.. yahoo! lemme count.. 6 years sold 2,400 units so 1 year sold 400 units and 1 month managed to sell 33 cars ALL over UK! THAT is a BIG achievement.. MALAYSIA BOLEH, man! *applause*
Oh yea, anyone does car business here? how many cars do you have to sell to meet your sales target per month? btw, isn't UK a bigger country than us? population wise? and yet only 2,400 units sold..
psssssssssst... wanna watch the clip where Jeremy Clarkson trashed the Kelisa?

Whey, I drive a Kelisa lor.
While it may not be the best car, it gets me around lah. So far so good.
Wanna change car lerh!
ok ok.. i'm not saying it the worst car la.. don't get me wrong.. i'm just saying about the number of units sold in UK.. 6 years only managed to sell 2,400 units
absolutely thrashingly bullocks
kidding, it's known that proton and produa weren't built with engineering in mind, more of a cost saving car which could provide jobs for a lot of ppl. not the worst, but not very good either
This really ticks me off. There are 2 angles of view here. One from a greedy CEO whom wants profits & higher sales, and the other from a reputable automotive journalist.
Jeremy Clarkson has a lot of passion for cars. And watching his team @ topgear, I'd have to agree on their reference to our Malaysian & Korean cars, as electrical appliances. Well, of course if you compare these cars with the likes of an Aston Martin or a Rolls Royce, a kelisa is more like a washing machine on wheels.
But then again, there are many people in the world whom dont have the same passion for cars, and find it as only a sole means of transport, and with not much regard for safety either. And there are those whom simply cant afford, and those who would rather buy a brand new kelisa for the price of an old junk car.
So, pls lah Deputy Ministeer, dont make all this cheap publicity just because you are selling cheap cars, in the name of making Malaysia famous and disagree with the opinion of a esteemed motor journalist. Coz he knows about cars, and you know about profits!
*sorry lah, but im a BIG Jeremy Clarkson fan! :) :) :)
Yea, know bout the bluetooth thingie last week gcos went to their website to check out if th new kancil is out already. The new kancil is actually pretty nice looking. Look like a mini Myvvi, plus Atos..something like tht..maybe I can post the pic up on my blog
Never driven a kelisa, can't comment.
But i was watching a taiwan drama the other day... all the time, i never get to see what car is the beautiful lady driving. On the last episode, they finally show her speeding off, leaving the guy behind (it was a break off scene). I finally saw the car... it was a white Proton Gen2!!! Can see the Campri sign somemore! Wuiyoh!!!! So proud wor...!!!
Sorry.. typo. Campro sign..
Drive a kelisa before. OK lah but no suitable for big size guy.
fuyoh.. gen 2 in taiwan.. malaysia boleh! hehe..
anyways the truth is proton and perodua are just 2 corporations trying to make money with selling cars.. the cars are built without any passion.. which is TRUE! they just manufactured the cars and lower the prices so almost EVERYONE can afford it.. that's not a bad thing coz ppl could afford it BUT then now KL is famous for the traffic jams :p~
Ya! Tell me about them jams whey!
I work in the middle of the city, for crying out loud. Every morning and evening, I sit and simmer in my car for a good 2 hours before getting home.
i fully agree with Jeremy Clarkson on this one. Have you noticed how the Kelisa's exhaust shudder whilst stationary? Sscary, as though it is going to drop off anytime.
Driven a Kelisa before and felt unsafe in the car.
renee: 2 hours?! wah! can eat your dinner in your car.. haha
Kelisa better or Kancil? hmmmmm...
kelisa is a nice car for a typical m'sian who uses HIS/HER own money to buy HIS/HER own car. If you have parents or spouse who can help you pay a fair deal of the d/p then you can get a better car......sad but true...
well, it's true.. it's true..
Its actually quite a good achivement for Malaysia already. Some more no bad feedback wor... Yea lar Malaysia Boleh !!! But Proton TAK boleh !!!
Perodua 10 years of excellence
Proton 20 years of DISGRACE ...
Sadly i am driving a proton....
Rather enjoyed that clip. It really is basically an appliance on wheels. It looks almost the same as when it was first introduced. A tweak here, a touch up there.... No passion involved in making the car indeed.
